Q:Why a Liberal Capitalist Party?

A:

When world communism fell with the Soviet Union and the Cold War ended in 1989, both the Democratic and Republican parties lost their core constituencies: the Republicans lost the enemy that had rallied voters to their strong defense policies, and the Democrats lost all of the credibility remaining in their economic philosophies. Since then, both parties have been flailing about in search of new majorities, lurching alternately to the left and to the right, only to end up where they are today: mostly in the political center, barely to the left and right of each other.

But there’s a problem. Having lost the broader purpose and direction which formed their foundations, the majority consensus blocs, which have traditionally held sway within each party, are now losing ground to their better-organized minority constituencies: religious fundamentalists on the right, and social-statists on the left. America now finds itself in an unstable situation where both major parties are falling under the control of groups whom, if put together, would scarcely add up to a plurality of the American electorate, leaving the remaining majority of us unrepresented within the party system. In response to this intolerable situation, we embark on the formation of a new party for a new era, one based on traditional American values yet also fully modern, a party which combines the wisdom of our forefathers with that of our grandfathers, yet also remains capable of growing with the wisdom of tomorrow.

Not since the Civil War has the animus of the American political dialog been greater, nor the need for American unity. The threat to the liberal project is palpable, and our nation is torn with sectarian strife. Thoughtless loyalty to disproven economic theories compels the far left to assume ever more grotesque moral postures, and, like any group of fanatics with no hope of escape, they have chosen to fight to the bitter end. The far right is dominated by religious anachronists who want to turn our government into the virtue police. The question that now comes to the forefront of the debate is, will we permit leftist frustration and religious zealotry to cripple the principles of democratic liberty? Or shall we rescue real American values from collectivism's grave?

The road to wisdom? Well it's plain and simple to express:
Err, and err,
and err again,
but less, and less, and less.
