It's been two weeks now, and Ariel Sharon's condition doesn't seem to be improving, meaning that perhaps instead of an Israeli messiah, he will instead play the role of a modern Moses, pointing the way to the promised land of peace, but prevented by grace from entering himself.
The truth is, however, when all is said and done, Sharon's deputy, acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, may be better able to move Kadima "forward" than Sharon. Although lacking Sharon's military experience, Olmert's political experience is extensive, and he may very well be more willing to cede more of the West Bank to the Palestinians than Sharon ever would have, raising the prospects of long term peace by offering the Palestinians a more attractive map of Palestine.
The road to wisdom? Well it's plain
and simple to express:
Err, and err,
and err again,
but less, and less, and less.
-Piet Hein
In a nutshell: if we wish to remain the Land of the Free,™ freedom must come first.
