The Liberal Capitalist Party is a Capitalist Party

The Liberal Capitalist Party is America’s first post-collectivist political party. It’s now the 21st century, and it’s time to recognize the unqualified verdict of science and history: capitalism is economics. Over the last seventy years we’ve seen capitalist theories expand, withstand the processes of scientific enquiry, and come to dominate university economics departments. Meanwhile, collectivist economic theory, by virtue of it’s failure, first retreated to political science departments, and today is only found being taught in various liberal arts and cultural studies programs. We point this out not to demean anyone or mock anyone’s personal beliefs, but rather to point out that the economic debate of collectivism versus the marketplace is simply over, and it’s time to advance the next level. Entering the twenty-first century, most Americans, and indeed most of the world, have come to accept this plain reality. However, what has yet to occur in our political institutions, including our political parties, is a thorough re-evaluation of the last century’s mistaken premises, ideologies, and policies in light of modern economic knowledge. The Liberal Capitalist Party intends to blaze this trail. We support sound money policies which begin with substituting the Federal Reserve Board’s arbitrary authority to set and change monetary policy with a set of simple, consistent, and predictable rules. We further support, at all levels of government, the transition from our current unemployment- and recession-producing production-based tax system to consumption-based tax programs mitigated to greatly reduce or eliminate their impact on the poor. We support the eventual end of all taxation on businesses and corporations, which only serve as an unmitigated, hidden tax on all of us—including poor and working families— via inflated prices for goods and services. We also support a transition from property taxes, which function in the same highly regressive way as business taxes, to other mitigated consumption-based taxes. We support the elimination of all corporate welfare schemes, and the elimination or reform of arbitrary government barriers to entry in the marketplace, such as those that exist in the insurance, energy, railroad, and other industries. We also support the elimination of all government price supports and controls, which always “protect” the receiving industries in the short-term at the expense of their long-term viability and higher prices on consumers. The Liberal Capitalist Party also proposes an end to the micro-regulation and subsidization of the health care and education sectors which has caused such enormous misallocation and overpricing. It's becoming clear that the future of medicine will be dominated by ever more sophisticated pharmaceuticals, thus making the need for comprehensive reform of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration even more critical. Every year thousands of Americans die waiting for the FDA to approve the life-saving drugs they need, and the rest of us are forced to pay the staggering prices necessary to cover the costs of the redundant testing and analysis required for FDA approval. Capitalism requires many different social institutions, both governmental and private, to produce a just, orderly, and prosperous market. The Liberal Capitalist Party seeks to strengthen and preserve these institutions by supporting policies that uphold private property rights, curb lawsuit abuse, provide timely and fair adjudication of contracts, and reduce the cost and complexity of legally starting and operating business enterprises. The redistribution of wealth is a proven failure. Creating wealth is the key to continually improving our standards of living.
